Newsshooter.com’s technical editor Matt Allard takes a look at Blackmagic Design’s new URSA Mini camera.
Substantially smaller and lighter than the URSA, the camera retains the older camera’s dynamic range and offers the option of Blackmagic’s new 4.6K sensor.
The smaller body means the Mini forgoes the large multiple screens of its bigger sibling in favour of a more portable, hand-holdable form factor that should be easier to use for lone operators.
The camera can also be built out with a shoulder mount kit, and a newly developed viewfinder.
Although it lacks the upgradeable sensor and high frame rates of the URSA, it will also draw less power which should make it a more practical option for run and gun style productions.
